WEEKEND CAR EVENTS TIDEWATER VA

Here’s a quick list of weekend events:

SHOWS/MEETS

Saturday 29/Sunday 30 March - Virginia Hot Rod & Custom Car Show.  Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA.  A two-day showcase of some of the hottest rides from around the region. Everything from wild customs, classic restored cars, and automotive culture will be showcased at this event. Many of these vehicles have graced the pages of magazines as well as receiving top honors at other car shows. There will be something for everyone including celebrities, kid events and hot rod personalities. The Hampton & Tidewater VA area will have a show to call their own. Come join the fun! $12.00 General Admission; $10 Military; $5 Children Ages 7-12; Children Ages 6 and under Free.  Saturday, March 29, 2014 (11:00 AM-9:00 PM)/Sunday, March 30, 2014 (10:00 AM-7:00 PM)

Saturday 29 March - 6th Annual Tidewater Mopar Club/ Hall Auto Group/ Tidewater Community College Spring Mopar Show and Shine.  From 9:00am to 3:00pm (registration ends at Noon), at Tidewater Community College, Chesapeake Campus, Automotive Center, 600 Innovation Drive, Chesapeake, VA.  Awards for “Best Of”, Student Choice, Best Viper/Truck/Jeep, and long distance.  Registration $10 for TMC members/$15 Non-members.  Food, Music, Goodie Bags, 50/50 Raffle and more.  Admission is free, donation of can goods or $1 (or more) to Foodbank of SE VA for additional ballots.

NASCAR - STP 500 Martinsville Speedway, Friday Pract/Qualifying, Saturday Pract, Sunday Race

VIR - Saturday 29 March - Optima Batteries ChumpCar World Series.  Return to the era when racing was fun and cheap, when Bondo beat carbon-fiber; when a crescent wrench was the most valuable tool in your box, when homemade engineering made everyone sit up and take notice, and when adding a little theme to your car didn’t get you laughed off pit lane.

UPCOMING CAR EVENTS - SPRING 2014

Spring is here - FINALLY!  Of course that means it's nearly 'Car' season; Shows, Meets, Autocross and Driver's Ed events are all waiting in the wings.  Here's a quick list of upcoming events:

SHOWS/MEETS

1st Saturdays (next 5 April) - Cars and Coffee Virginia Beach. Are you normally busy on Saturdays with a list of honey-do's or family commitments? Well that's perfectly fine because you can be back home before your spouse is even up. Enjoy your car hobby and still enjoy the rest of your day.
Originally started in Irvine, CA at a strip mall on the PCH, the Cars & Coffee idea has steadily spread to various areas across the country. Here in Virginia Beach we have the beach, we have plenty of sports cars in the area, and we have plenty of coffee shops so it seemed a logical fit. This is an informal hangout for mature car enthusiasts who enjoy an early morning drive and a cup of coffee.
It is scheduled for the first Saturday of every month rain or shine from 7 AM - 9 AM, and hosted at La Promenade Shops on Laskin Road in the West Hilltop area of Virginia Beach, which features ample parking and BEAN THERE COFFEE on location. Please be curious to the businesses in the shopping center and leave the lot at 9 AM promptly.

Saturday 22 March - Classic, Custom, and Import Car Show, hosted by the Tidewater Z Car Club.  Held At Mario's Restaurant, 611 Airline Blvd., in Portsmouth, VA from Noon till 4pm.  Show is open to all domestic and import models and years.  There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies for each of the three classes and a trophy for Best of Show.  $25 pre-registration thru 18 March, $30 after thru day of show.  Free admission for spectators, and only a $1 donation per ballot to vote for your favorite.

Sunday 6 April - JageR's Beach Bar & Grill 2nd Annual Hogs & Hot Rods Car & Bike Show.  Registration 11:00am - 4:00pm, Awards 5:00pm. $500 in cash and prizes!  Open to any year Bikes, Hot Rods 1974 or earlier, all clubs welcome.  Live Music by "Johnny Trash." Food and Drink specials.


AUTO CROSS

SCCA - Old Dominion Region.  The Old Dominion Region (Number 63) is part of the Southeast Division (SEDiv), which consists of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.    Our Region includes all of the cities in the Hampton Roads area as well as several surrounding cities.  We primarily host two types of events: Solo (Auto Cross) and Road Rally.  www.odr-scca.org

Tidewater Sports Car Club (TSCC) -Founded in Norfolk Virginia in 1953, TSCC has a strong foundation within the local Hampton Roads autocross community and surrounding areas (140+ club members in 2009).
Our autocross season runs from March through November with events taking place on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of the month.  We usually host a novice  autocross school early in the season on the Saturday before our Sunday event.  This is a great opportunity for new participants to get involved with autocross.
Our club is not solely structured around autocross. TSCC is, as the name implies, a car club, supporting the enthusiast. Car shows, social gatherings, and community involvement are just a few of the extracurricular activities in which TSCC participates. 
We host  a charity event at least once a year where all the proceeds from the event are donated to a designated charity. Since 2005, we have donated over $20,000.00 to various local and national charities. www.tidewatersportscarclub.com

DRIVERS EDUCATION

North Auto Sport Assoc (NASA).  NASA Mid Atlantic increases track time for HPDE (High Performance Driver's Ed) Drivers!!  In response to overwhelming feedback from our participants NASA Mid Atlantic offers even more of its award winning HPDE program to all HPDE Drivers.  Starting March 22-23 at VIR NASA will increase the number of on track sessions each HPDE group receives from 3 to 4.  More time.  More opportunity to have more fun on track!!!!

With those attributes, our club has grown to over 600 Active Members throughout Virginia.  We race each other, show our prized possessions, conduct rallies, autocrosses and tours. The Club sponsors driver education, restoration and technical sessions. We know our Porsche, or Porsches if we're lucky, inside and out. UPCOMING CAR EVENTS - Tidewater VA

Spring is just around the corner (please ignore today's chilly reminder of winter).  Of course that means it's nearly 'Car' season; Shows, Meets, Autocross and Driver's Ed events are all waiting in the wings.  Here's a quick list of upcoming events:

SHOWS/MEETS
