The Cool Tones Band will be playing Rock and Roll Music of 60's and 70's. So, come on out, we'll be there. BBQ at the airport will be open, covered patio, large menu beer and wine selection also. Join us as we celebrate the memory of a local car enthusiast who passed away December 28, 2018. George was a vital part of the Landstown Cruise-Ins, and we are proud to remember him with an annual event. George also served on the board of the Beachcomber Corvette Club served as the president if the Car Club Council of Hampton Roads. This will be an all years, makes, and models event with awards. Portion of proceeds will benefit a charity that George believed in, the Southeastern Food Bank. We will be accepting all non-perishable food items for the food bank. Landstown Commons Shopping Center is providing us with dash plaques for the event. They are free with registration, while they last!
Fri-Sun, Oct 23-25 - Battle on the Bay, Hosted by USDrift, Sumospeed, Langley Drift Club, at Larry King Law's Langley Speedway. Battle on the Bay" is a three-day automotive event featuring pro drivers from across the eastern United States and beyond battling it out in a tandem drifting competition on Saturday night. The Sumospeed Pop-Up Meet will take place on Friday evening and offer automotive enthusiasts a chance to park and meet other enthusiasts. On Saturday and Sunday, the Sumospeed Showcase Car Show will give individuals and teams the opportunity to show off their vehicles with a chance to win prizes both days. The Langley Drift Club PRO/AM Mixer will take place on Friday night and all day Sunday featuring pro drivers sharing the track with local drivers looking to gain seat time on their new home for drifting in Hampton Roads.

This will be our first Night Competition under the lights! 16 drivers will qualify into a bracket and battle head to head to see who will take home the 2020 SSS Speed & Style Champion title! This will be our only SSS for 2020 and winner takes all! We will have 16 drivers spots for competitors and 14 spots for our normal Night Touge fun! Have fun and DRESS UP! Best dressed Drift Car/Driver will get some special prizes & a drawing of their car/costume from @montanez_design (keep it PG and fun/funny please!) We will also be doing a kids Trunk or Treat for all the young future drivers. Let’s have a great time and enjoy Halloween together!

Founded in Norfolk Virginia in 1953, TSCC has a strong foundation within the local Hampton Roads autocross community and surrounding areas. Our autocross season runs from March through November with championship series events typically taking place on the 3rd Sunday of the month. We usually host a novice autocross school early in the season on the Saturday before our Sunday event. This is a great opportunity for new participants to get involved with autocross. We also host higher speed time trials at regional tracks such as North Carolina Center for Automotive Research.

As many of you have already read in the newspaper and on Facebook, there will be No racing in 2020. After reading Executive Order 65, Bill Sawyer has decided he will not operate and run the track without fans, and with the current restrictions, we do not anticipate the chance to race any time soon. For that reason, we will not open for the 2020 season and will step back and get ready for an even bigger and better 2021 racing season. Stay safe and healthy.

In light of the Governor’s eased restrictions for racetracks effective 29 May, Southside Speedway would like to convey to our drivers that we will continue to monitor the situation into June. Under the current guidelines we cannot operate with fans in attendance: “No spectators or members of the public are permitted to attend the event. This includes owners, family (unless the guardian of a minor child), as well as outside vendors. Only individuals essential to the operation of the event are permitted to attend.”

COVID 19 Update - After much review of the guidelines to reopen Motorsports Facilities from the Commonwealth of Virginia (https://www.governor.virginia.gov/…/Virginia-Forward-Phase-…) many restless nights and much prayer, I have decided that for the immediate future, Richmond Dragway will not reopen during this restrictive phase of reopening. Clearly, the restrictions in place are designed to facilitate major events (with TV and outside revenues) to continue to operate (i.e. NASCAR) and that is more than acceptable. There were a number of deciding factors in this decision including health & safety, financial considerations, and general principle.
